Pinned Up Sides

Wearing my flower and butterfly earrings for the party.
Hello everyone!  This Labor Day weekend was my nephew's 5th birthday.  My son and I fought Friday night traffic to ND for the party Saturday afternoon.  I decided to stick to my routine and I washed my hair Saturday morning.  I did a copy cat style that I saw on Minasek's blog by MsVCharles on You Tube and I really liked how it turned out on me.  Minasek didn't like the results she got, but I liked what she did with her hair even though it wasn't the same look.  I simply pulled back the sides on top of my head and pinned with a barrette.  Then made a pompadour in the front and added a flower.  My mom even complimented me on my curls!  Which is very rare for her.

Anyway, this was an easy wash n go updo that was easy to turn into a high puff the next day.  I'm noticing that now my hair is long enough for high puffs, updo's and ponytails that I'm experiencing some low grade headaches.  I guess going over a year of wearing my hair down, my scalp is not used to the hair being piled up, pinned back, or pulled up.  Any suggestions to remedy this problem?  When I install these styles I don't feel like my hair is tight at all, but a few hours of wear seem to cause a low grade headache.  Until next time...
Blessings!
Side view and loving those curls.

  1. Pretty! I'm loving the flower. I end up with headaches sometimes when I do the puffs.

    1. Thank you. I love wearing flowers, but the headaches need to go.

  2. Love the style! Your curls are adorable and the flower is everything! I get low-grade headaches when I wear certain puffs that are too tight. Maybe try securing your puffs and ponys with a knee-high stocking instead of a band?

    1. I think I will need to try the knee-high stocking. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Ah yes, the ache in hair styling. This is exactly why I use my black plastic barrette to hold my hair in place but not to "hold" my hair. I have found that my hair ornaments/barrettes are more decorative than functional. Same with bobby pins, which is why I really try to use very few. And because my hair is not being held by these clips or pins, I avoid the ouchification of hair styling. I hope I've explained that well enough.

On a related note, your hair looks really nice here and I was especially glad to hear that you received a compliment from your Mom. She's right, you're curls do look very nice. JenJen, I think she's coming around. What do you think?

    1. I think I will need to figure out how to hold my hair without pulling my hair. My hair never feels tight when I install my style, but a few hours into the style and my head just aches.

I think my mom is realizing the this is who I'm going to be and her and I had a heart to heart about some of the mean things she has said to me since I started to transition. She's trying, so I will be patient.

    1. By the way....depending on how I put in the bobby pins, I have developed a low grade headache from the pins sticking in my scalp rather than the tightness of my updo. I hope that helps.

    2. Thanks for the tip. I will work with using less pins to hold my hair.
