Hello everyone! I have been busy with writing my thesis, but I decided to take a quick break and get a picture of me coming home from church to show you how I have been wearing my hair lately and the snow that we have been getting up here in MN. The past several days have been nothing but snow, cold and gray weather. At this time last year the temps were in the 60's and 70's. Now getting above 45 degrees is a warm day.
Anyway, I have been natural for 20 months and my hair is measuring a little above 11 inches in the front and on the sides. I have been doing a lot of wash n go's because I don't have much time to do much else and it's pretty. I pray all is well with my blog friends and I hope to have more time once I have finished my thesis.

I'm meeting with my adviser this Wednesday to go over my rough draft. I have to turn in my first draft April 30 for a grade for my research class and then I will be given more feedback to expand it into my full thesis which will be due this fall. Then in December I will have to present it to the committee along with my action research project that I'm conducting now. I'm taking this one step at a time and so far I'm proud of my progress. I was the only one in my research class that had a completed first draft last week, so that tells me that I'm a little ahead of my classmates. I've noticed that the older students with families and a mortgage (like myself) do the reading, complete the work (on time), and don't miss class. I'm sending a lot of money to get my Master's, but it's not just the money. It's the time away from my family and the hope for a better life that push me to do well. Anyway, I have to work on my action research project write up so I hope to connect with you all soon. Until next time...

DeleteI have been thinking and thinking and thinking and thinking about you. I check your blog frequently just to see if you've poked your head up. And yes, on April 14, you did! I'm glad to see you and hear that all is going well. Your progress sounds excellent and you are so right about students who have more at stake. They tend to come prepared, do the work on time, having a much better to commitment to deadlines and the need to juggle multiple priorities. Just as you wrote that, I was thinking JUST that.
ReplyDeleteSnow? No. We were having our fair share of weatherness in both MA and NJ, which made everyone grumpy. On the east coast we are ready for the weather to break. We are searching for spring. (Hurricane Sandy is still doing a number on a lot of people in NJ!) I see you are in great spirits about the #snowsnowandmoresnow. I don't know how you do it but God bless you that you can . . . and do. No coat? Brrrrrr!!

I have been reading your blog and just loved your post about your daughter's hair being colored and straightened until you realized that she has always had the lighter spot and her hair getting longer so the curl is being stretched. Your sister aka the Inn Keeper always makes me laugh!
DeleteI can't believe how much money people waste by not doing their work. The class started with about 30 people and now we have about 20. Everyone has to take this class to get their degree and everything hinges on the thesis and the action research project. One student at my table hasn't even gotten a topic yet and the deadline is April 30.
I have decided to let go of things I can't control. My folks live in ND so snow in April is nothing new.
Glad to see you are still here with us. Your hair looks great and I'm so happy that school is going smoothly. I agree that the older students (like us) see the bigger picture and take our classes and schoolwork much more seriously than our younger classmates. Such is life I guess? I have my oldest going off to college in the fall and hope she takes her education seriously and appreciates what it can do for her.
